From 4DGIRLZ SAFETY 2/13/2022

INTRODUCTION
This guide will cover some of the best possible practices to keep you safe in the event of a crime against your person, home, or business. I also put some safety and security items in here and links to purchase them, if interested.

This is just a guide and is intended for educational and informational purposes only. If you feel you need further assistance please contact proper authorities.

Personal, Home, and Business security
Several factors come into play with safety and security, like area, time, opportunity, etc. However, you do not have to be a Victim. Here are some situations and how to handle them:

Sexual Assault
 Use initials instead of first names on mailboxes.
 Avoid remaining alone in an apartment laundry room or parking garage.
 It is risky to accept a ride home from someone you just met.
 When you have to physically resist assault, remember your goal is to incapacitate the attacker long enough to run to safety and get help.
 If you are ever violated, call the police immediately. Don’t shower, bathe or change clothes.
 Buying some sort of personal protection item would be wise if you don’t have one. Pepper spray, stun guns, kubotans, personal alarm.

Hold-Ups/Robberies
 Avoid carrying valuable items or large amounts of money.
 Always think ahead. For example, when traveling at night have your keys ready to enter the house or car.
 If you are confronted by a robber, the best advice is to cooperate.
 If you resist there is a greater chance you will be hurt or killed.
 In this age of social media, Don’t “Do it for the Gram” and show off valuables and tag your location. You’re asking for trouble.

ATM/Bank Machines
 When using an ATM, always be alert of anything suspicious around you or the machine.
 The chances of being robbed at night are much greater, especially if you are alone.
 If someone is waiting/watching outside in the area of the ATM DO NOT USE IT. Leave the area and find another machine.

Street Safety
 Stay in a well-lit, busy area. Avoid walking alone and avoid known trouble spots.
 When carrying a purse, hold it close to your body as opposed to by the handles. Do Not wrap the straps around your wrist, it will be all bad for you in a struggle.
 Carry only what you need in your pocket, purse, or wallet, not everything you have.
 Avoid using shortcuts through dark alleys, fields, or vacant lots, if at all possible. If not, be very alert and cautious.
 If you feel you’re being followed, cross the street and change directions a few times. Go to a well-lit, heavily populated area. DO NOT GO HOME cause you don’t want the attacker knowing your address.

Home Security
 Purchase and/or use your alarm system. They are not that expensive these days and are a great investment.
 Make sure your home looks lived in. Leave lights on when not home or if you’ll be gone for a while. Open curtains when home.
 Fit mortise locks or bolts to all outside doors and all downstairs and easily accessible windows.
 Cut the lawn and trim any plants that burglars could hide behind.
 Have someone look after your home to collect mail, turn lights on and off, mow, and so on.
 Lock garages and sheds with proper locks.
 Mark valuables with an invisible pen you can get from a DIY shop. Mark them with your address and postal code. This is also a good practice for business property.
 Hidden cameras and door/window/cabinet alarms are a good idea. You can keep an eye on what’s going on in and outside your home. Also, they alert you to windows being broken, interior doors being opened, and so on.

Con-Artists
 No work on your house is free or deeply discounted so beware or something for nothing schemes. You get what you pay for.
 Always get several estimates.
 Get all agreements in writing and ask for ID.
 Don’t fall for the “free inspection” or “ I was just in the area” lines. This could be a criminal trying to case your house.
 The most popular home improvement scams are roof repair and painting, driveway sealing, and termite inspection.
 The IRS DOES NOT CALL YOU. They send letters and tell you to call them.
 The Social Security Admin is not calling and asking you to verify YOUR SS#, that is ludicrous.
Burglar Prevention
 Keep your yard maintained.
 Don’t leave the car running while unattended EVER.
 Make sure there are no dark or concealed spots around your home an intruder could hide behind.
 Close your garage door.
 Don’t leave notes on exterior doors stating you’re away.
 Make sure sliding doors have auxiliary locks and blocking bars.
 Make sure basement windows are secure and not hidden by bushes.
 Diversion Safes are a good idea. Thieves aren’t looking thru household products thinking that’s where the valuables are.
 Also, use your alarm!

Business Security
 Doors and windows should have secure locks. Deadbolts for doors and burglar-resistant glass for windows.
 Alarm systems should be supplied by a licensed alarm company w/ a central monitoring system.
 Lighting must provide optimum visibility inside and out. Outside lighting should be vandal-proof.
 Key control needs to be maintained responsibly. A master key is convenient but may not provide the best security. Code all keys and don’t allow employees to make duplicates.
 Mark all equipment with ID NUMBERS. Also, make sure you record all serial numbers of your equipment.
 The safe needs to be fireproof, burglar-resistant, and anchored securely. Change the combo if an employee leaves but also know all employees do not need the safe combo.
 Use cameras to thwart off thieves and to keep an eye on your employees and items. Get dummy cams or real cams, you can also get spy cams disguised as pens, clocks, smoke alarms, or even an air freshener.

When you are worked up or frustrated take a moment to pull it together and continue to be awesome. Here are a few quick ways to focus and be positive!
First, always give Thanks as soon as you wake up. That’s a huge blessing.
Next, remember to breathe. In thru your nose out thru your mouth. Be sure and focus on your breathes as you do this so you can calm your brain. Also, count to 10 and be present where you are.
Meditation works wonders. You can meditate for 10 minutes and feel a big difference in your life. Journaling also helps clear your head and put your thoughts in order. Journaling works best when done first thing in the morning or before you go to bed at night.

Dispatching w/ DispatcHER 🚛💨

Hello, I’m Sharmyn. I wanted to talk about truck dispatching and give some tips as I have been working in the trucking industry for a total of 11 years.

In order to be a dispatcher, you need to have thick skin and be ready for the unexpected at any given time. Examples are truck breaks down, trailer lights go out, problems with the load or it cancels, or pay is not right, to name a few. Losing your cool in these situations will only harm your health and potentially cost you a carrier and/or customer. Possibly your job, so breathe and always have a backup plan.

Next, when you are looking for loads for your drivers, it’s best if you know what type of load your driver will take and if he has all the right equipment to do the job. There is nothing worse than sending a driver 150 miles or more, only for him to be turned away. The driver is pissed and the customer may not give you another chance to load at their facility.

Searching loads can be grueling and time-consuming. It involves a lot of phone calls and looking through load boards. This task is made easier if you know what equipment you’re working with, what type of load you want, and if you’re set up with the company you are calling. Furthermore, it will make booking the load easier. If you don’t know the type of equipment, you have to call and ask the driver. Don’t know if the driver wants to haul lumber or shingles, you have to call and ask. Not set up with the company, may need to get qualified which takes time and booking agent may take you off the load due to that. The moral is to BE PREPARED OR RISK LOSING OUT ON THE LOAD.

Alright, everything has worked out in our favor and now we have the load! Make sure you read the rate con THOROUGHLY and verify the pay, miles, commodity whatever was agreed upon is on it before signing and sending it back. This is a binding contract so if they changed anything your signature agrees to the changes. Make sure you comply with any notes put on it like, call when loaded and empty, tarping and/or strapping, pre calls, etc.

These are just some basic tips. My next post will dive a little deeper into certain subjects regarding dispatching and drivers.

P.A.C.K. Customer Service 101

P.A.C.K. Customer Service 101
Hello! Welcome to your first step in turning your Customer Service from 1-star to 5 stars and awesome reviews. This is just an overview of what you need to provide Excellent Customer Service at any time to anyone.

• Customer service definition
• P.A.C.K. meaning broken down

Let’s start with the definition of customer service:

  1. the assistance and advice provided by a company to those people who buy or use its products or services.
    Definitions from Oxford Languages

The assistance and advice provided by a company. Actually, it is usually provided by a representative of the company. The problem with that is occasionally that person could give a damn about the company or the brand; they just need a check. This is where Customer Service can go left either due to the management not taking the time to properly train the rep(s), the fact the rep could care less regardless of training or a combination of the two. Regardless, this is a recipe for disaster when it comes satisfying upset customers or dealing with unhappy reps.
However, if you are the owner and the Customer Service rep who is receiving complaints and bad reviews, then I can help you as well. Sometimes, it is a matter of a misunderstanding due to a language barrier, item marked with wrong price, or receiving something they find subpar. Whatever it is, I will help you work through it.

P.A.C.K. Customer Service 101

P.A.C.K. is a Customer Service coaching service that will help you find a balance between constantly unsatisfied customers and unruly C/S reps. P.A.C.K. is a 4-step plan that will help individuals or businesses find an understanding of how to turn things around.
